Choose the CV tool that fits where you are.

By Adrian GeorgeReviewed monthly

Use a template builder if you have no CV. Use ApplyArc if you already have one and need to check the text, tailor it to a vacancy, and track the application. ApplyArc is not a from-scratch template builder, and no public tool can guarantee a private ATS result.

No sign-up for the checker. ApplyArc Pro is £19/month.

Start with the job you need the tool to do

You have a blank page

Start with a template builder

Canva, Zety, Resume.io, and Enhancv all publish template-led builders. Compare the exported file, editing control, and current billed total before paying.

You already have a CV

Check and tailor the evidence

ApplyArc reviews pasted text, compares it with an optional job description, and can tailor an uploaded CV after sign-in. It cannot reproduce a private employer parser.

You are managing applications

Put the board at the centre

ApplyArc, Teal, and Enhancv all publish tracking features. Compare stages, browser capture, reminders, export, and plan limits against the way you actually apply.

Workflow comparison

This avoids stale star ratings and temporary prices. Verify the exact export and billed total on the vendor's own page.

What the checker cannot tell you

The free checker reviews pasted text. It cannot inspect the original file's visual layout, run the document through Workday, Greenhouse, or another vendor's private configuration, or predict a hiring decision.

Treat the result as an editing checklist. Verify every AI suggestion against your real experience before applying.

UK CV foundations

The National Careers Service recommends clear sections and tailoring the CV to the job. Use that structure before worrying about a proprietary score.

  1. 01

Put your name and usable contact details first.

  2. 02

Use clear headings for experience, education, skills, and qualifications.

  3. 03

Lead bullets with the action you took and keep outcomes truthful.

  4. 04

Use British spelling when the role and employer use it.

  5. 05

Tailor the evidence to the vacancy without copying unsupported keywords.

  6. 06

Open the exported file and confirm its text can be selected in reading order.

Questions people ask before choosing

What is the best CV builder for UK job seekers?

There is no single best tool for every starting point. Use a template-led builder such as Canva, Zety, Resume.io, or Enhancv if you have no CV. Use ApplyArc if you already have a CV and want to check its pasted text, tailor it to a vacancy, and track the application.

Is ApplyArc a from-scratch CV builder?

No. ApplyArc edits and tailors an uploaded CV. It also includes a pasted-text checker, six export layouts, qualifications editing, English variants, and job tracking. It does not promise an unshipped template builder.

Can a CV builder guarantee ATS compatibility?

No. Applicant tracking systems use different parsers and employer configurations. A simple hierarchy and readable exported text reduce avoidable risk, but no public tool can guarantee how every private system will parse or rank a file.

How should a UK CV differ from a US resume?

Use British spelling when applying in the UK, keep contact details and section headings clear, and tailor your evidence to the vacancy. Length depends on experience and sector; two pages is a common ceiling, not a rule for every candidate.

Should I tailor my CV for every application?

Tailor the version when the role asks for different evidence. Reuse truthful experience, then bring the most relevant skills and outcomes forward. Do not copy keywords you cannot support.

What is included in ApplyArc Free?

ApplyArc Free includes 5 AI generations per month and up to 100 tracked jobs. The pasted-text ATS checker is available without signing up.

Already have a CV? Check the text before you apply.

Paste the CV and, if you have one, the job description. The checker is free and does not require an account.
