The Short Answer· Updated July 2026

Your tracker is not a graveyard of rows. It should tell you what to do next.

A useful job application dashboard records the company, role, source link, saved job description, date applied, current stage, next action and date, recruiter contact, resume version, interview notes, and outcome. Keep the pipeline short enough to update after every meaningful change.

How this template was built

Every default field has to answer one of four questions: is the role worth pursuing, what did you send, what happens next, and what was the outcome? Optional fields stay off until they change a decision.

Choose your columns

Start with the defaults. Remove anything you will not update after the first week.

12 columns selected. The second row is an example, not your data.

Keep the pipeline shorter than the hiring process

A stage should change what you do next. Keep detailed interview rounds in the notes unless a separate column earns its upkeep.

Job application dashboard questions

A useful dashboard records the company, role, source link, saved job description, date applied, current stage, next action and date, recruiter contact, resume version, interview notes, and outcome. Add salary and location only when they help you decide what to pursue.

Start with Wishlist, Applied, Interview, Offer, Rejected, and Withdrawn. Add extra interview stages only when they change what you need to do next. Too many columns make the board harder to maintain.

Yes. Choose the fields you need, copy the CSV template with its example row, or download it without signing up. The template works in Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers, Airtable, and most database tools.

Yes. The download is a plain CSV, so you can add, rename, or remove columns in any spreadsheet or database tool. Keep a custom field only if it changes a decision or next action.
